Disney World: Staying Onsite vs. Offsite

One of the first considerations when booking your Disney vacation may be whether you will stay at one of the Disney owned properties or offsite at a nearby hotel or rental home. Every great vacation begins with planning. Hopefully, some of the benefits mentioned will assist you in making your Disney Experience complete.

Disney Resort Guest Benefits

Extra Magic Hour – Each day one of the four Disney theme parks will open an hour early or stay open up to 3 hours late for the guests who are staying at one of Disney’s properties. During peak travel times, this is a huge benefit for Disney guests. It allows them access to certain rides before the parks become crowded.
Disney Transportation – Guests have unlimited use of transportation available throughout Disney World, including motor coach, water taxis and monorail. Staying onsite allows for quick trips to the hotel room for naps or a swim in the pool. Note: The Disney Resort is very large and transportation can be time consuming, as guests may have to wait for the transportation or make multiple connections to get to their destination. Some guests may choose to rent a car for the flexibility of traveling on their own schedule.
Disney’s Magical Express – Disney offers their guests free motor coach transportation from the Orlando International Airport. A convenient feature is the delivery of your luggage. Guests check their luggage at their hometown airport and it is ‘magically’ delivered to their Disney hotel. Note: Luggage may not arrive at the hotel until hours after arrival, so pack essentials in their carry-on luggage.
Package Delivery – Guests have the option of having their theme park purchases delivered directly to their Disney Resort. This is a great feature for guests who do not want to carry their purchases throughout the parks. Note: Guests staying offsite have the option of having their purchases sent to the main gate of the theme park where they will be held until the guests pick them up.
Disney Magic – staying at one of the Disney resorts offers your clients 24 hours a day of Disney Magic. Many of the stores, restaurants and pools have Disney themes that add to your client’s experience.

Off-site Accommodation Benefits

Save Money – By and large, most of the accommodations located within close proximity of Disney World are less expensive than the Disney owned properties. Staying offsite will also give you the opportunity to save money by eating at non-Disney restaurants.
Larger Accommodations – If you will be reserving two or more rooms, staying offsite at an all-suite hotel or a rental home may be a better option. There is an abundance of rental homes outside of Disney, which offer all the conveniences of home including a fully stocked kitchen and private pool.
Variety of Restaurants, Shopping and Non-Disney Attractions – Guests who have been to Disney before may choose to stay offsite to experience some of the many restaurants, shopping and attractions located just outside of the Disney property.
