Ski Whitefish Montana

Skier with upright Skis Attention Skiers: A member of our staff recently took a "pre-ski season" familiarization trip to Whitefish, Montana, via Amtrak and RMA Tours and was very impressed with the Whitefish ski properties and the area.  Read on. If you're not in a hurry to get to your destination and want to see the countryside, Amtrak is definitely the way to go. While in Whitefish, I had the opportunity to inspect many different resorts, take a walk in the treetops, enjoy an afternoon pontoon boat ride on Whitefish Lake, and even experience a bear sighting!

Whitefish Condo The first day we inspected several resorts including: Glacier Village Properties, Kristianna Properties, Hibernation House, Kintla Lodge, Edelweiss Condos, Alpinglow Inn and the newly built Morning Eagle Lodge.  All properties were located right on Big Mountain and most of them had ski-in rooms.

My personal favorite was a newly built townhouse worth $1 million.  The complexes were not yet finished and only one was fully furnished.  These were very luxurious and they looked like something that should be on a "celebrity homes" television show..

Whitefish Ski Trip - Walk in the Tree Tops

Later in the day we took a walk in the treetops.  That included a half-mile hike in the mountains that led to the spot where we were able to walk on boards held up by wires in the trees.  The highest point was 70 feet above ground and the view was amazing.  Even if you are afraid of heights, It's an opportunity I would not miss.
After all the touring and the adventure in the trees, we decided to go downtown to get a taste of Whitefish nightlife.  We decided to spend the rest of the evening at The Great Northern listening to a live band and mingling with the locals.

On the second day we inspected more properties that included: Kandahar Lodge, Whitefish Lake Lodge, Rocky Mountain Lodge, Grouse Mountain Lodge, and Pine Lodge.  We enjoyed breakfast at the Kandahar Lodge (which has delicious huckleberry pancakes).  After touring the lodge we headed back down to Whitefish to tour yet more properties and do some shopping.
Whitefish Lake That afternoon we headed over to Whitefish Lake Lodge for an afternoon pontoon boat ride.  We couldn't ask for a better day.  The lake was calm, the weather was beautiful, and the scenery was breathtaking. On Whitefish Lake
That evening we had dinner at the Grouse Mountain Lodge and it was delicious.  To top off our evening and our trip, we experienced a bear sighting that was right across the road from our condo's.  It was quite humorous watching a bear that wasn't phased by anything.
