Jamaica
Resort Properties Familiarization Report: April
2006
One of our leisure
specialists spent a
week in the Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios areas courtesy of
Transglobal Vacations and inspected several resort
properties. These properties included various
Superclubs Hotels and Resorts, Sandals &
Beaches Resorts, Couples Resorts, RIU Resorts, and
more. Read the complete
report about the Jamaica familiarization
trip.
Royal
Decameron - Montego Bay This
resort is one of the favorites and is located
in the heart of Montego Bay and within
walking distance of Margaretville and a new
jazz club called Blue Bay. The hotel's
decor is off dark, rich woods and it had a
very open airy feeling. As the photo shows,
all rooms have balconies.
Negril - Sunset at the Palms Although
the property is situated off the beach, they have
access across the street to their own private
beach and it was one of my favorites. This
is an outside view of the treetop cabins.
Sandals
Negril
This is a beautiful resort with lots of lush
vegetation. Our group viewed one of the
Honeymoon Beachfront one-bedroom loft suites and
it was gorgeous. Sandals Negril offers
diving instruction to be resort or PADI certified
with a separate scuba diving pool. This is a
view of the wedding gazebo on the property.
Sandals
Whitehouse
This is Sandals newest luxury property in Jamaica
- this place is beautiful. All 360 rooms
face the ocean or beach front with 2 miles of
beach stretching the length of the property.
The entrance to the rooms face the mountains so
guests get a beautiful view of the mountains
coming and going from their room. This
resort boasts the largest pool in Jamaica.
Grand
Lido Negril
This was my home for two nights on this
familiarization tour. It received the Conde
Naste's award for one of the best places to say in Jamaica
in 2005. It is one of my favorite
larger resort properties in Negril. This is a view
of the beach area in front of the oceanview suites.
Couples
San Souci - Ocho Rios This
is a quiet, small property and sits on a
hillside. It does have a beautiful
beach and natural mineral pool as well as an
au natural beach area that is hidden off
from the main pool and beach area. This is Charlie, a 300-year old sea turtle
that is the resort's official mascot and is
free to come and go as he pleases but he
stays in the mineral spring area of the
resort. Read
